Installation Procedure

Clean the engine upper front cover sealing surfaces.
NOTE:
The complete installation procedure of the upper engine front cover and the engine mount bracket must be fitted within 10 minutes of applying the sealing compound. DO NOT coat sealing compound into the engine upper front cover bolt bores and threads.

Apply an approximately 3 mm (0.12 in) thick bead of sealant (1, 3) to the engine upper front cover (2). In the marked areas the width has to be broadened to 4 mm (0.16 in) in order to prevent leakages. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers for the recommended sealant.
Apply additional sealant (1, 2) to the transitions between the cylinder head and the cylinder block in the shown areas 4 mm (0.16 in) thick bead of sealant).
NOTE:
Position the engine upper front cover exactly to the engine lower front cover bores.

Install the engine upper front cover (1) at first to the engine lower front cover (3) and then to the cylinder head (2).
CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .

NOTE:
Mind the different bolt lengths.

Install at first the 3 engine front cover bolts (2) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
Install the engine front cover bolt (1) and tighten to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).
Install the 7 engine front cover bolts (1) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
Install the engine mount bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement .
Position the air conditioning compressor wiring harness bracket (2).
Install the air conditioning compressor wiring harness bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
Install the drive belt idler pulley (1).
Install the drive belt idler pulley bolt (2) and tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
Install the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement .
