Installation Procedure

  1. Clean the engine lower front cover sealing surfaces.
  2. GM2968026

    Apply approximately a 3 mm (0.12 in) thick bead of engine front cover sealant (1) to the engine lower front cover. In the marked areas the width has to be broadened to 4 mm (0.16 in) in order to prevent leakages. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers  for the recommended sealant.

    Install the engine lower front cover (1).

    CAUTION:

    Fastener Caution

    NOTE:

    Mind the different bolt length.

    Install the 9 engine front cover bolts (1) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  5. Lower the vehicle.

    Install drive belt tensioner (1), mind that the guide nose (3) fits into the gap (4) at the lower engine front cover.

  7. Drive Belt Tensioner Bolt(1) - Install and tighten 55 N.m(41 lb ft)
  8. Engine Front Cover Replacement - Upper  - Install
  9. Crankshaft Balancer Absorber Replacement  - Install
  10. Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement - Install
  11. Engine Sight Shield Replacement  - Install
