Removal Procedure

- Remove the fuel injection fuel rail assembly. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Removal and Installation .
- Remove the oil dip stick.
Loosen the positive crankcase ventilation vacuum hose clamp (3).
- Remove the positive crankcase ventilation vacuum hose (2) from the camshaft cover (1).
- Unclip the charge air bypass valve hose and lay aside. Refer to Charge Air Bypass Valve Hose Replacement .
Remove the 3 engine control module wiring harness bracket nuts (1).
- Remove the engine control module wiring harness bracket (2).
- Remove the 2 turbocharger coolant return pipe bracket nuts (4).
- Remove the turbocharger coolant return pipe bracket (3).
- NOTE:
The bolts remain in the camshaft cover.
Loosen the 23 camshaft cover bolts (1).
Remove the camshaft cover (1) along with the 23 bolts.
Remove and DISCARD the camshaft cover seal (1) from the camshaft cover.
