Installation Procedure

  1. Clean the camshaft cover sealing surfaces.
  2. GM2966430

    Apply approximately a 5 mm (0.2 in) thick bead of camshaft cover sealant (2, 4) between the cylinder head (1) and the engine front cover (3). Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers  for the recommended sealant.

  3. GM2966428

    Insert a NEW camshaft cover seal (1) to the camshaft cover.

    Install the camshaft cover (1) along with the 23 camshaft cover bolts.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Tighten the 23 bolts (1) to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  6. GM2966415

    Install the turbocharger coolant return pipe bracket (3).

  7. Install the 2 turbocharger coolant return pipe bracket nuts (4) and tighten to 8 N.m (71 lb in).
  8. Install the engine control module wiring harness bracket (2).
  9. Install the 3 engine control module wiring harness bracket nuts (1) and tighten to 8 N.m (71 lb in).
  10. Position the charge air bypass valve hose and clip it in. Refer to Charge Air Bypass Valve Hose Replacement .
  11. GM3011787

    Install the oil dip stick.

  12. Install the fuel injection fuel rail assembly. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Removal and Installation .
