Turbocharger Installation

  1. GM2906674
    NOTE:

    Exhaust manifold bolts with high loosening torque need to be disassembled last to prevent bolt from breaking. Due to the relaxed system (when all other bolts are loosened) the manifold can shift a little and reduce the friction at the bolt threads.

    Exhaust Manifold Gasket(1) - Install NEW

  2. Exhaust Manifold and Turbocharger Assembly(2) - Install
  3. CAUTION:

    This is a self-retaining fastener joint that does not require thread locking compounds. Do not attempt to clean the threads with a standard tap. If a standard tap is used, damage to the joint threads will occur.

  4. Exhaust Manifold Bolt(3) - Install NEW - Do NOT tighten.[9x]

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Exhaust Manifold Bolt(1) - Tighten in sequence[9x] 20 N.m (15 lb ft)

  6. GM2906673

    Turbocharger Brace(2) - Install

  7. Turbocharger Brace Bolt(1) - Install NEW[2x]
  8. CAUTION:

    This is a self-retaining fastener joint that does not require thread locking compounds. Do not attempt to clean the threads with a standard tap. If a standard tap is used, damage to the joint threads will occur.

  9. Turbocharger Brace Bolt(1) - Tighten
    1. First Pass: 4 N.m (35 lb in)
    2. Final Pass: 25 N.m (18 lb ft)
