Exhaust Camshaft Removal

  1. GM3213236

    Remove the 4 camshaft bearing rear cap bolts (1).

  2. NOTE:

    Release the bearing support by striking it gently with a plastic hammer.

  3. Remove the camshaft bearing rear cap (2).
  4. GM3213235

    Mark camshaft bearing caps prior removal.

  5. Loosen the 10 exhaust camshaft bearing cap bolts (1), working from outside to inside in a spiral in steps of 1/2 up to 1 turn.

    Remove the 10 exhaust camshaft bearing cap bolts (3).

  7. Remove the exhaust bearing front cap (2) from the cylinder head.
  8. Remove the 4 exhaust camshaft bearing caps (4) from the cylinder head.
  9. Remove the exhaust camshaft (1).
