Engine Block Disassemble

  1. GM3138339

    Remove the 2 cylinder guide sleeves (1).

  2. Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal housing locating pin (2).
  3. Remove the 2 transmission locating pins (3).
  4. Remove the engine block oil gallery plugs (4, 5).

    Remove the engine oil pressure sensor (2).

  6. Remove and DISCARD the engine oil pressure sensor seal (1).
  7. Remove the 3 oil pump flow control valve bolts (4).
  8. Remove the oil pump flow control valve (5).
  9. Remove an DISCARD the oil pump flow control valve seal (3).
  10. Remove the knock sensor bolt (6).
  11. Remove the knock sensor (7).
  12. GM3138424

    Remove the engine coolant heater (2), if equipped.

  13. Remove and DISCARD the engine coolant heater seal (1).
  14. GM3138499

    Remove the engine coolant heater hole plug (1), if equipped.

  15. Clean the threads.

    Remove the 4 piston oil nozzles bolts (2).

  17. Remove the 4 piston oil nozzles (1).
  18. Remove the lower crankcase locating pin (3).

    Remove the engine block oil gallery plug (1).

  20. Remove the engine front cover bolt guide (2).
  21. Remove the oil pump bolt guide (3).
