Cylinder Head Installation

EN-45059 Angle Meter
Equivalent regional tools:Special Tools .
- Clean the sealing surfaces.
- Inspect the flatness of cylinder head and the engine block sealing surfaces.
- NOTE:
The installation procedure of the cylinder head must be fitted within 10 minutes of applying the sealing compound. DO NOT coat sealing compound into the engine block bores and threads.
Apply 2 sealants (2), approximately 4 mm (0.16 in) thick, to the engine block (1). - Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
Cylinder Head Gasket(1) - Install a NEW gasket.
- Apply 2 additional sealers (2), approximately 4 mm (0.16 in) thick, to the cylinder head gasket (1). - Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
Cylinder Head(2) - Install
- Cylinder Head Bolt(1) - Install[10x] - Do NOT tighten.

CAUTION:Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution .
Tighten the 10 cylinder head bolts (1) in the sequence as shown, in five passes:
- First pass in sequence to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Second pass in sequence to an additional 90 degrees, using the EN-45059 meter.
- Third pass in sequence to an additional 90 degrees, using the EN-45059 meter.
- Fourth pass in sequence to an additional 90 degrees, using the EN-45059 meter.
- Final pass in sequence to an additional 90 degrees, using the EN-45059 meter.
NOTE:
Ensure that the cylinder head and the cylinder block sealing surfaces are clear of oil, grease and old gasket material.
