Circuit/System Description

Circuit Description
Ignition Supplied from a fuse.
Control The output circuit is switched to ground to activate the component.
The output is PWM controlled.
Component Description
E41 Engine Coolant Thermostat Heater The thermostat has a build-in heating resistor. When the resistor heats up, the thermostat opens more, resulting in a lower engine operating temperature.
The thermostat has a mechanical fail-safe in case of an electrical condition with the thermostat heater. The mechanical thermostat will open at approximately 103°C (217°F) and cycle between 105°C (221°F) and 110°C (230°F).
K20 Engine Control Module The control module controls a series of actuators to ensure optimal engine performance. The control module does this by reading values from a variety of sensors, interprets the data and adjusts the engine actuators accordingly.
