Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front wheel drive shaft. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side , or Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side .
  2. GM860858

    Clamp the front wheel drive shaft (1) in a vice using protective jaws or a cloth.

  3. GM3213073

    Remove and DISCARD the front wheel drive shaft boot (2) and clamp (1).

  4. GM3603675

    Remove the joint (1) from the wheel drive shaft (2) by pounding the joint link (3) using a brass bar and a hammer.

  5. GM2008315

    Remove the front wheel drive shaft boot (1) from the front wheel drive shaft (2).

  6. GM174601

    Remove and DISCARD the retaining ring from the front wheel drive shaft.

  7. When replacing the wheel drive shaft boot only: Remove the old grease from the front wheel drive shaft joint.
