Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front wheel drive shaft. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side , or to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side .

    Remove and DISCARD the front wheel drive shaft inner joint boot inner (4) and outer clamp (5). Use a pointed tool to lever out the front wheel drive shaft inner joint boot inner clamp (4)

  3. Move the front wheel drive shaft inner joint boot (2) aside.
  4. Clean the front wheel drive shaft inner joint (3) and the front wheel drive shaft (1) from the old grease.

    NOTE:

    Protect the front wheel drive shaft using protective jaws or a cloth before clamp in the vice.

    Clamp the front wheel drive shaft (1) as vertical as possible in the vice and position the front wheel drive shaft inner joint (2) as high as possible to the vice.

  6. Remove the inner joint (2) from the wheel drive shaft (1) by pounding the inner joint housing (2) in front of the bearing, as shown in the graphic. Use a brass bar and a hammer.
  7. As soon the inner joint housing (2) slide down from the 1st bearing, rotate the wheel drive shaft in the same position (see step 5) to the 2nd bearing and continue with the step 6.
  8. As soon the inner joint housing (2) slide down from the 2nd bearing, rotate the wheel drive shaft in the same position (see step 5) to the 3rd bearing and continue with the step 6 till the joint housing slide down completely.

    Remove and DISCARD the front wheel drive shaft inner joint boot (1) from the front wheel drive shaft (2).

    Remove and DISCARD the retaining ring from the front wheel drive shaft inner joint.
