Installation Procedure
Install the NEW retaining ring to the front wheel drive shaft inner joint. Start to pull the ring from the front wheel drive shaft inner joint end down to the ring groove.
Install the NEW front wheel drive shaft inner joint boot (1) on the front wheel drive shaft (2) loosely.
- NOTE:
Protect the front wheel drive shaft using protective jaws or a cloth before clamp in the vice.
Clamp the front wheel drive shaft vertical in the vice.
- Install the front wheel drive shaft inner joint (1) to the front wheel drive shaft using a wooden block and a hammer.
Place approximately half of the grease delivered with the service kit inside the front wheel drive shaft inner joint and fill the front wheel drive shaft inner joint boot with the remaining grease.
- CAUTION:
Wheel drive shaft boots, seals and clamps should be protected from sharp objects any time service is performed on or near the wheel drive shaft(s). Damage to the boot(s), the seal(s) or the clamp(s) may cause lubricant to leak from the joint and lead to increased noise and possible failure of the wheel drive shaft.
Position the NEW front wheel drive shaft inner joint boot (2) to the inner joint (3).
Crimp the NEW front wheel drive shaft boot outer and NEW inner clamp using the CH-804 Tensioner (1). Tighten the tool to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Remove all excess grease which leaked out.
