Removal Procedure

  1. Prepare the engine control module (ECM) for replacement. Refer to Control Module References .
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. GM2595023
    CAUTION:

    In order to prevent any possible electrostatic discharge damage to the ECM, do not touch the connector pins.

    Disconnect the ECM wiring harness plugs (1) from the ECM.

  4. GM2595025

    Remove the ECM bracket (1) along with the ECM (2) from the battery tray.

  5. Unclip the retainer clip (3).
  6. Remove the ECM (2) from the ECM bracket (1).
