Circuit/System Testing

  1. Remove the flywheel inspection cover.
  2. Inspect the flywheel for loose flywheel bolts.
    • If there are loose flywheel bolts 

      Tighten the flywheel bolts, refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications.

    • Go to next step: If there are no loose flywheel bolts 
  3. Inspect the flywheel for missing or chipped gear teeth
    • If there are chipped or missing gear teeth 

      Replace the flywheel.

    • Go to next step: If there are no chipped or missing gear teeth 
  4. Inspect the bell housing for debris.
    • If there is debris in the bell housing 

      Remove the debris.

    • Go to next step: If there is no debris in the bell housing 
  5. Inspect the flywheel for bending.
    • If the flywheel is bent 

      Replace the flywheel

    • Go to next step: If the flywheel is not bent 
  6. Replace the starter.
