Component Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Buick Cascada, 2018 Buick Cascada, and 2017 Buick Cascada. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Static Test
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the M86 Folding Top Header Latch Motor.
- Test for 1.1 - 1.3 Ω between the control circuit terminal 1 and the control circuit terminal 2.
- If not between 1.1 - 1.3 Ω
Replace the M86 Folding Top Header Latch Motor.
- Go to next step: If between 1.1 - 1.3 Ω
- If not between 1.1 - 1.3 Ω
- Test for infinite resistance between each terminal and the sensor housing/case.
- If less than infinite resistance
Replace the M86 Folding Top Header Latch Motor
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- If less than infinite resistance
- All OK
Dynamic Test
- Install a 10 A fused jumper wire between the control terminal 2 and 12 V.
- Momentarily install a jumper wire between the control terminal 1 and ground. The M86 Folding Top Header Latch Motor should open the latch.
- If the latch does not open
Replace the M86 Folding Top Header Latch Motor.
- Go to next step: If the latch opens
- If the latch does not open
- Reverse the jumper wires, the M86 Folding Top Header Latch Motor should close the latch.
- If the latch does not close
Replace the M86 Folding Top Header Latch Motor.
- Go to next step: If the latch closes
- If the latch does not close
- All OK
