Static Test

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the M86 Folding Top Header Latch Motor.
  2. Test for 1.1 - 1.3 Ω between the control circuit terminal 1 and the control circuit terminal 2.
    • If not between 1.1 - 1.3 Ω

Replace the M86 Folding Top Header Latch Motor.

    • Go to next step: If between 1.1 - 1.3 Ω
  3. Test for infinite resistance between each terminal and the sensor housing/case.
    • If less than infinite resistance

Replace the M86 Folding Top Header Latch Motor

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance
  4. All OK

Dynamic Test

  1. Install a 10 A fused jumper wire between the control terminal 2 and 12 V.
  2. Momentarily install a jumper wire between the control terminal 1 and ground. The M86 Folding Top Header Latch Motor should open the latch.
    • If the latch does not open

Replace the M86 Folding Top Header Latch Motor.

    • Go to next step: If the latch opens
  3. Reverse the jumper wires, the M86 Folding Top Header Latch Motor should close the latch.
    • If the latch does not close

Replace the M86 Folding Top Header Latch Motor.

    • Go to next step: If the latch closes
  4. All OK
