Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Buick Cascada, 2018 Buick Cascada, and 2017 Buick Cascada. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B254 Rear Compartment Lid Position Sensor. It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down.
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal E and ground.
- If 10 Ω or greater
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the low reference circuit end to end.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
- Go to next step: If less than 10 Ω
- Ignition ON.
- Test for greater than 10 V or between the 12 V reference circuit terminal A and ground.
- If less than 10 V
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K23 Folding Top Control Module.
- Test for infinite resistance between the 12 V reference circuit and ground.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the 12 V reference circuit end to end.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, replace the K23 Folding Top Control Module.
- Go to next step: If 10 V or greater
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K23 Folding Top Control Module, ignition ON.
- Test for less than 1 V between signal circuit terminals listed below and ground:
- K23 Folding Top Control Module - Signal circuit terminal 15 X7
- K23 Folding Top Control Module - Signal circuit terminal 18 X7
- If 1 V or greater
Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 1 V
- Ignition OFF.
- Test for infinite resistance between signal circuits listed below and ground.
- K23 Folding Top Control Module - Signal circuit terminal 15 X7
- K23 Folding Top Control Module - Signal circuit terminal 18 X7
- If less than infinite resistance
Repair the short to ground in the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the signal circuits listed below end to end.
- B254 Rear Compartment Lid Position Sensor signal circuit terminal C to K23 Folding Top Control Module terminal 15 X7.
- B254 Rear Compartment Lid Position Sensor signal circuit terminal D to K23 Folding Top Control Module terminal 18 X7.
- If 2 Ω or greater
Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 2 Ω
- Replace the B254 Rear Compartment Lid Position Sensor.
- Ignition ON.
- Verify the scan tool B254 Rear Compartment Lid Position Sensor (Horizontal signal) and B254 Rear Compartment Lid Position Sensor (Vertical signal) are between 9 - 33% and changes with the opening and closing of the rear compartment lid.
- If not between 9 - 33% or does not change
Replace the K23 Folding Top Control Module.
- Go to next step: If between 9 - 33% and changes
- If not between 9 - 33% or does not change
- All OK.
