Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Buick Cascada, 2018 Buick Cascada, and 2017 Buick Cascada. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B254 Rear Compartment Lid Position Sensor. It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down.
  2. Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal E and ground.
    • If 10 Ω or greater
    1. Test for less than 2 Ω in the low reference circuit end to end.
      • If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
    • Go to next step: If less than 10 Ω
  3. Ignition ON.
  4. Test for greater than 10 V or between the 12 V reference circuit terminal A and ground.
    • If less than 10 V
    1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K23 Folding Top Control Module.
    2. Test for infinite resistance between the 12 V reference circuit and ground.
      • If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If infinite resistance
    3. Test for less than 2 Ω in the 12 V reference circuit end to end.
      • If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 Ω, replace the K23 Folding Top Control Module.
    • Go to next step: If 10 V or greater
  5. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K23 Folding Top Control Module, ignition ON.
  6. Test for less than 1 V between signal circuit terminals listed below and ground:
    • K23 Folding Top Control Module - Signal circuit terminal 15 X7
    • K23 Folding Top Control Module - Signal circuit terminal 18 X7
    • If 1 V or greater

Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.

    • Go to next step: If less than 1 V
  7. Ignition OFF.
  8. Test for infinite resistance between signal circuits listed below and ground.
    • K23 Folding Top Control Module - Signal circuit terminal 15 X7
    • K23 Folding Top Control Module - Signal circuit terminal 18 X7
    • If less than infinite resistance

Repair the short to ground in the circuit.

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance
  9. Test for less than 2 Ω in the signal circuits listed below end to end.
    • B254 Rear Compartment Lid Position Sensor signal circuit terminal C to K23 Folding Top Control Module terminal 15 X7.
    • B254 Rear Compartment Lid Position Sensor signal circuit terminal D to K23 Folding Top Control Module terminal 18 X7.
    • If 2 Ω or greater

Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.

    • Go to next step: If less than 2 Ω
  10. Replace the B254 Rear Compartment Lid Position Sensor.
  11. Ignition ON.
  12. Verify the scan tool B254 Rear Compartment Lid Position Sensor (Horizontal signal) and B254 Rear Compartment Lid Position Sensor (Vertical signal) are between 9 - 33% and changes with the opening and closing of the rear compartment lid.
    • If not between 9 - 33% or does not change

Replace the K23 Folding Top Control Module.

    • Go to next step: If between 9 - 33% and changes
  13. All OK.
