Component Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Buick Cascada, 2018 Buick Cascada, and 2017 Buick Cascada. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Static Test
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the M87 Folding Top Stowage Compartment Flaps Motor.
- Test for 1.2 - 1.6 Ω between the control circuit terminal 1 and the control circuit terminal 2.
- If not between 1.2 - 1.6 Ω
Replace the M87 Folding Top Stowage Compartment Flap Motor.
- Go to next step: If between 1.2 - 1.6 Ω
- If not between 1.2 - 1.6 Ω
- Test for infinite resistance between each terminal and the sensor housing/case.
- If less than infinite resistance
Replace the M87 Folding Top Stowage Compartment Flaps Motor
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- If less than infinite resistance
- All OK
Dynamic Test
- Install a 10 A fused jumper wire between the control terminal 2 and 12 V.
- Momentarily install a jumper wire between the control terminal 1 and ground. The M87 Folding Top Stowage Compartment Flaps Motor should extend the flaps.
- If the flaps do not extend
Replace the M87 Folding Top Stowage Compartment Flaps Motor.
- Go to next step: If the flaps extend
- If the flaps do not extend
- Reverse the jumper wires, the M87 Folding Top Stowage Compartment Flaps Motor should retract the flaps.
- If the flaps do not retract
Replace the M87 Folding Top Stowage Compartment Flaps Motor.
- Go to next step: If the flaps retract
- If the flaps do not retract
- All OK
