Component Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Buick Cascada, 2018 Buick Cascada, and 2017 Buick Cascada. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Static Test

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate Q16 Folding Top Solenoid Valve.
  2. Test for 7 - 11 Ω between the control terminal 1 and the ground terminal 2.
    • If not between 7 - 11 Ω 

      Replace the Q16 Folding Top Solenoid Valve.

    • Go to next step: If between 7 - 11 Ω 
  3. Test for infinite resistance between each terminal and the Q16 Folding Top Solenoid Valve housing/case.
    • If less than infinite resistance 

      Replace the Q16 Folding Top Solenoid Valve.

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance 
  4. All OK.

Dynamic Test

  1. Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the control terminal 1 and 12 V. Install a jumper wire between the ground terminal 2 and ground.
  2. Verify the Q16 Folding Top Solenoid Valve turns on & off/clicks, etc.
    • If the Q16 Folding Top Solenoid Valve does not turn on & off/clicks, etc. 

      Replace the Q16 Folding Top Solenoid Valve.

    • Go to next step: If the Q16 Folding Top Solenoid Valve does turn on & off/clicks, etc. 
  3. All OK.
