Component Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Buick Cascada, 2018 Buick Cascada, and 2017 Buick Cascada. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Relay Test

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the appropriate K149 Folding Top Pump Motor Relay.
  2. Test for 85 - 105 Ω between terminals 85 and 86.
    • If less than 85 Ω or greater than 105 Ω 

      Replace the K149 Folding Top Pump Motor Relay.

    • Go to next step: If between 85 - 105 Ω 
  3. Test for infinite resistance between the terminals listed below:
    • 30 and 86
    • 30 and 87
    • 30 and 85
    • 85 and 87
    • If less than infinite resistance 

      Replace the K149 Folding Top Pump Motor Relay.

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance 
  4. Test for less than 2 Ω between terminals 30 and 87A.
    • If 2 Ω or greater 

      Replace the K149 Folding Top Pump Motor Relay.

    • Go to next step: If less than 2 Ω 
  5. Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between relay terminal 85 and 12 V. Install a jumper wire between relay terminal 86 and ground.
  6. Test for less than 2 Ω between terminals 30 and 87.
    • If 2 Ω or greater 

      Replace the K149 Folding Top Pump Motor Relay.

    • Go to next step: If less than 2 Ω 
  7. All OK

Motor Static Test

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the M23 Folding Top Pump Motor.
  2. Test for 78 - 117 Ω between the control circuit terminal 1 and the signal circuit terminal 2.
    • If not between 78 - 117 Ω 

      Replace the M23 Folding Top Pump Motor.

    • Go to next step: If between 78 - 117 Ω 
  3. Test for infinite resistance between each terminal and the sensor housing/case.
    • If less than infinite resistance 

      Replace the M23 Folding Top Pump Motor.

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance 
  4. All OK

Motor Dynamic Test

  1. Install a 10 A fused jumper wire between the control terminal 2 and 12 V.
  2. Momentarily install a jumper wire between the control terminal 1 and ground. The M23 Folding Top Pump Motor should operate.
    • If the pump motor does not work 

      Replace the M23 Folding Top Pump Motor.

    • Go to next step: If the pump motor works 
  3. All OK
