Closing Procedure
- Open the rear compartment lid.
- Remove the tools needed for manual operation of the folding top.
- Close rear compartment lid.
- Unlock the folding top stowage compartment lid. Refer to Folding Top Stowage Compartment Lid Emergency Release .
Lift up folding top stowage compartment lid (1) from both sides simultaneously up to the half raised position.
- Insert a 4 mm Allen key into the marked position of the flap-drive unit. Turn the Allen key clockwise all the way to the stop, so that the sideways flaps (2) are swivelled in.
- Open the folding top stowage compartment lid to its end position.
Attach a suitable string (1) to folding top hinge (2) at marked position on both sides.
- Deposit the end of the strings to the front.
Remove the folding top trim panels (1) on both sides by pushing and sliding backwards.
- NOTE:
Prior to carrying out step 11 observe step 12!
Pull out the folding top by lifting the front bow (1) on both sides. Lift up the folding top tension bow (2) simultaneously.
Ensure that the folding top hinge (1) moves correctly.
- INCORRECT: Folding top hinge moves upwards (2)
- CORRECT: Folding top hinge moves downwards (3)
- Move the folding top front bow to windscreen frame. Check that the guidance pins on the folding top move correctly into the front latch strikers.
- Remove the small lid in the folding top front panel using a screwdriver which is inserted in the recess of the lid.
Insert a 6 mm Allen key (1) into the closure and lock the latch by turning the Allen key clockwise to its end position.
Lift up the tension bow (1) of the folding top on both sides. Raise up folding top compartment lid (2) by pushing slowly to the half raised position and then let it slide in its closed position
- Lower the folding top tension bow.
Push down strongly each side of the folding top tension bow (1). Simultaneously pull the string with a screwdriver (2) cross in the loop slowly and continuous to the front. Possibly support oneself on the door frame with the other hand. Execute this on both sides to latch the soft top at the rear.
