Removal Procedure
Move the folding top in the middle position as shown in the graphic.
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Remove the 2 bolts (4) and unclip the 8 clips (2) to remove the folding top front panel (3).
Remove and DISCARD the 8 microcapsulated bolts (2) and slide the sealing lip left and right side (4) out of the folding top frame to remove the folding top front weatherstrip (3) including the sealing lip left and right side (4).
Unclip the 6 connectors (1) out from the connector stick (2) and remove the folding top inner cover from the roof rail front panel.
- Drill out the rivet and remove the tension belt (4) from the folding top frame left and right side (3).
Remove the 2 bolts (1) and remove the inner molding (2) left and right side.
- NOTE:
Mark the routing of the secure lines left and right side.
Unclip the press button and remove the plate (2) from folding top frame (1) left and right side.
Move the folding top in the front position and lift up the rear tension bow of the folding top and remove the bolt (2) to remove the 2 secure lines (1). Draw the lower secure line through bottom loop.
Remove the folding top inner cover stretch rail (1) from the rear tension bow (2).
- Remove the roof inner cover stretch rail (6) from the rear window (4).
- Move the folding top in the middle position and remove the upper secure lines left and right side from the folding top frame left and right side. Draw the secure lines through 2 bottom loops.
- NOTE:
Pull very carefully and equally.
Remove the folding top inner cover from the folding top frame. Slide the 4 folding top inner cover fishplates (2) out from the 4 folding top frame brackets (1).
Use the proper eye protection when drilling to prevent metal chips from causing physical injury.
Proper rivet hole size is critical to ensure rivet retention. Always confirm the correct drill bit size before drilling the holes. Failure to ensure proper rivet retention may result in oversized holes which could cause damage or misalignment of the folding top.
