Important Terms
| Term | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Rim Width | The rim width is measured between the inside of both rim flanges |
| Tire Width | The tire width is measured between the very outer ends of the tire sidewalls on an inflated tire |
| Outer Diameter | Diameter of an inflated tire at the most outward tread surface |
| Sidewall height | Half difference between inch diameter and outer tire diameter |
| Sidewall ratio | Percental ratio between tire width and sidewall height (for example: "55" means, that the sidewall height is 55 % of the tire width) |
| Tire load | The number indicates, how much weight an inflated tire (to 250 psi) can be loaded. |
| Tire Inflation pressure | Pressure inside the inflated and cold tire in relation to the ambient air pressure |
| Speed index | Indicates, how fast a tire can be driven when loaded as specified by the load index (only valid for tires up to 210 km/h) |
| Offset (abbr. ET) | Difference between rim center and rim to hub mounting surface |
