Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  2. Recover the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging 
  3. Remove the drive belt. Drive Belt Replacement
  4. Remove the charge air cooler inlet air hose. Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Hose Replacement
  5. Loosen the air conditioning compressor and the condenser hose from the air conditioning compressor. Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Replacement 
1 Air Conditioning Compressor Bolt (Qty: 3)
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .


Tighten 
22 N.m (16 lb ft)
2 Air Conditioning Compressor

Procedure

  1. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  2. Use a low viscosity, poly-alkylene glycol (PAG) oil. Use of the incorrect oil can result in compressor failure.
  3. When replacing the A/C compressor, balance the compressor oil. Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Balancing 
  4. Using GE-39400-A  Electronic Halogen Leak Detector leak test A/C compressor fittings.
