With Scan Tool - Generation 3

    WARNING:

    When performing a brake torque procedure, the vehicle must be parked outdoors away from any buildings, people, or other vehicles. Failure to follow these precautions may result in severe vehicle damage, and/or serious bodily injury.

  1. Perform the following steps:
    1. Vehicle - Outside
    2. Set the parking brake.
    3. Block the drive wheels.
  2. Engine - Idling - At normal operating temperature.
  3. Transmission Range - P
  4. NOTE:

    Allow the component to cool if warmer than 106°C (223°F).

  5. Verify the scan tool parameter: Transmission Fluid Temperature = Warmer than 86°C (187°F)
    • If 86°C (187°F) or colder 
    1. Brake Pedal - Applied & Hold
    2. Transmission Range - D
    3. Engine Speed - 1.2k to 1.5k RPM - For 5 s
    4. Engine - Idling - For 10 s
    5. Transmission Range - P
    6. Repeat step 4
    • Go to next step: If warmer than 86°C (187°F) 
  6. Transmission Range - N - Wait 10 s before proceeding to the next step.
  7. Select: Module Diagnostics
  8. Select: Transmission Control Module
  9. Select: Configuration/Reset Functions
  10. Select: Transmission Adaptive Values Learn
  11. Follow the instructions on the scan tool.

    Verify the scan tool procedure was successful.

    • If the procedure was not successful 

      Refer to: Step 1

    • Go to next step: If the procedure was successful 
  12. All OK.
