Engine Block Assemble

  1. Install the oil pump bolt guide (3).

  2. Install the engine front cover bolt guide (2).
  3. Install the engine block oil gallery plug (1).
  4. Install the lower crankcase locating pin (3).

  5. Install the 4 piston oil nozzles (1).
  6. Install the 4 piston oil nozzles bolts (2) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  7. Apply sealing compound to the engine coolant heater hole plug thread. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers .

  8. Install the engine coolant heater hole plug (1) and tighten to 60 N.m (44 lb ft), if equipped.
  9. Install a NEW engine coolant heater seal (1).

  10. Install the engine coolant heater (2) and tighten to 60 N.m (44 lb ft), if equipped.
  11. Install the knock sensor (7).

  12. Install the knock sensor bolt (6) loosely.
  13. Install a NEW oil pump flow control valve seal (3).
  14. Install the oil pump flow control valve (5).
  15. Install the 3 oil pump flow control valve bolts (4) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
  16. Install a NEW engine oil pressure sensor seal (1).
  17. Install the engine oil pressure sensor (2) and tighten to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).
  18. Position the knock sensor 20 degrees (a) out of the horizontal position.

    NOTE: The knock sensor connector must be oriented as shown (a).
  19. Tighten the knock sensor bolt to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
  20. Install the engine block oil gallery plugs (4, 5).

  21. Install the 2 transmission locating pins (3).
  22. Install the crankshaft rear oil seal housing locating pin (2).
  23. Install the 2 cylinder guide sleeves (1).
