Crankcase Ventilation System Inspection/Diagnosis

Crankcase Ventilation System Symptoms Diagnosis

Concern Action
External oil leak Inspect for any of the following conditions:
  • Plugged air intake system
  • Damaged or incorrectly installed PCV hose
  • Excessive crankcase pressure due to a damage primary valve in the camshaft cover.
  • Plugged or kinked PCV hose from cam cover to turbo
Rough idle Inspect for any of the following conditions:
  • Plugged, incorrectly installed or leaked of the air intake system
  • Leaking or damaged PCV hose from camshaft cover to turbo
Stalling or slow idle speed Inspect for any of the following conditions:
  • Plugged air intake system
High idle speed Inspect for any of the following conditions:
  • Air inlet system properly connected, damaged or leaking
  • Leaking or damaged PCV hose
