Alternate Method - If a scan tool is not available

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Disable the fuel pump by removing the B+ fuel pump control module fuse. Refer to Electrical Center Identification Views .
  3. Start the vehicle and allow the engine to idle until the engine stops. The engine will stop in approximately 5-20 seconds.
    NOTE: Metallic rattle noise may be heard during fuel pressure relief. If engine does not stop within 45 seconds shut off engine as the high pressure pump is capable of drawing fuel out of the fuel tank without the in tank pump running.
  4. Turn the ignition OFF.
