The passenger compartment heater system uses the engine radiator, a 12 V auxiliary heater coolant pump, an exhaust gas heat recovery system and a heater core.
The engine control module turns on the auxiliary heater coolant pump when passenger compartment heating is needed during the Autostop (engine off) hybrid mode. Passenger compartment heat is provided by air flowing through the heater core.
