Circuit/System Testing

NOTE:
- Larger volume fuel tanks and/or those with lower fuel levels may require several minutes for the GE-41413-A flow meter floating indicator to stabilize.
- Introduce smoke at 15 s intervals while testing the system.
- Ensure that the vehicle underbody temperature is similar to the ambient temperature and allow the surrounding air to stabilize before starting the diagnostic procedure. The system flow will be less with higher temperatures.
- Refer to the GE-41413-A operation manual for detailed instructions in Evaporative Emission Control System Diagnosis.
- Disconnect the purge tube at the quick connector on the EVAP canister side of the purge solenoid valve and install the CH-48096 .
- Connect the GE-41413-A
to the CH-48096
.NOTE: This vehicle has no EVAP Vent Solenoid therefore the step below is necessary for effective testing.
- Disconnect the tube between the canister and the EVAP Leak Detection Pump and plug it with GE-41413-301 at the pump end of the tube.
- Verify that there is no leak in the EVAP system using the flow meter on the GE-41413-A
, calibrated to 0.51 mm (0.020 in).
- If a leak is detected
- Apply smoke to the EVAP system at the service access port adapter with the GE-41413-A .
- Locate the leak using the GE-41413-SPT

- When the leak is located, repair or replace the affected component as necessary.
- If no leak detected
- All OK
