Circuit/System Description

The driver information center switches are multiplexed switches.

The Instrument Cluster provides 5 volts to the PLUS and MINUS switches. The PLUS and MINUS switches are momentary contact switches that are also provided ground through the Instrument Cluster.

The Instrument Cluster provides battery voltage to the SELECT, CONFIG, and BACK switches via the DIC switch signal circuit. The DIC switch signal circuit is pulled up to battery voltage in the Instrument Cluster. The Instrument Cluster also provides the SELECT, CONFIG, and BACK switches with a low reference circuit. The DIC switch signal circuit is pulled low when a switch is activated. The driver information center SELECT, CONFIG, and BACK switches are momentary contact switches that connect a series of resistors in a resistor ladder format. The instrument cluster monitors the DIC switch signal circuit to determine the switch position. Each switch state - SELECT, CONFIG, and BACK- corresponds to a certain resistance value. The instrument cluster determines the switch pressed by the voltage drop across the resistors.
