- For cylinder head assemble. Refer to Cylinder Head Assemble (LTG)
and Cylinder Head Assemble (LKW)

- Install the cylinder head gasket (3) to the block.

NOTE:
Do not use any sealing material.
- Install the cylinder head (2). Ensure the number 1 cylinder is at top dead center (TDC). The key on the crankshaft should be on top in the 12 o'clock position.
- Install the cylinder head bolts.

NOTE:
Always use NEW cylinder head bolts.
- First Pass:
tighten the bolts in sequence to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
- Final Pass:
tighten the bolts an additional 190 degrees in sequence using the EN 45059
meter.
- Reposition the engine support fixture lift hook from the J-36857
Engine Lift Bracket (2) to the engine lift bracket (3).

NOTE:
Support engine as necessary from underneath while repositioning the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture .
- Remove the J-36857
Engine Lift Bracket (2) and fastener (1) from the engine block.
- Install the camshaft position actuator and camshaft - Intake. Refer to Camshaft Position Actuator and Camshaft Replacement - Intake (LTG) .
- Install the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement (LTG) and Engine Front Cover Replacement (LKW) .
- Install the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement (LTG)
and Exhaust Manifold Replacement (LKW)
.
- Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement (LKW) and Intake Manifold Replacement (LTG) .
- Install the fuel pump. Refer to Fuel Pump Replacement
.
- Install the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement (LKW) and Camshaft Cover Replacement (LTG) .
- Refill the engine with NEW oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
- Refill the coolant system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)
and Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static)
