Installation Procedure

  1. Push down the rear muffler. Install and tighten the NEW equalizer beam center link bolt and nut (1) to the equalizer beam center link (2).

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
    NOTE: Remember the correct installation position.
    1. A first pass to 70 N.m (52 lb ft)
    2. A final pass to an additional 120 - 135 degrees using the EN-45059  meter
  2. Install the 2 equalizer beam links and the fasteners (2) to the vehicle loosely.

  3. Raise the 2 equalizer beam links in horizontal position before tightening the equalizer beam link bolts.
  4. Install the NEW 2 equalizer beam link bolts and 2 NEW nuts (1) to the equalizer beam center link (2) and tighten.
    1. A first pass to 40 N.m (30 lb ft)
    2. A final pass to an additional 60 degrees using the EN-45059  meter
  5. Install the 2 equalizer beam link bolts (1) to the rear axle (2) loosely.

  6. Install the 3 rivets (1) to the equalizer beam center link heat shield (2).

  7. Install the rear exhaust muffler to suspension points (1, 2, 3).

    NOTE: There may be additional attachment points, depending on the powertrain of the vehicle.
  8. Install the NEW flange gasket.

  9. Install the rear exhaust pipe (1) to flange.
  10. Install the NEW exhaust front pipe to the exhaust rear muffler nuts (2, 3) and tighten to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).
  11. Install the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  12. Lower the vehicle.
  13. Tighten the 2 equalizer beam link bolts (1) to 160 N.m (118 lb ft).

    NOTE: Tighten the equalizer beam link bolts with vehicle standing on the ground.
