Circuit/System Verification
This system allows you to service each component separately (module and sensor/sensing mat). Perform a passenger presence system preload test procedure whenever a component is replaced. Refer to Passenger Presence System Programming and Setup . Inspect the following component connectors for damage or corrosion. Repair or replace the affected component/connector:
- Passenger Presence Sensor
- Passenger Presence Sensor harness connector
- Passenger Presence Detection Module
- Passenger Presence Detection Module harness connector
- Seat wiring harness to vehicle harness connector
The connector and connector position assurance (CPA) may seat independent of each other. Both the connector and CPA should seat with an audible and/or tactile click.
This system is serviced as a kit (seat foam, module and/or sensing mat). Perform a Passenger Presence System Preload procedure whenever a component is replaced. Inspect the following component connectors for damage or corrosion. Repair or replace the affected component/connector:
- Verify that the seat is free of any objects or an aftermarket seat heater.
- If objects or an aftermarket seat heater is present
- Remove objects and/or aftermarket seat heater.
- Ignition ON, clear the DTC.
- Verify that DTC B0074 is not set
- If the DTC B0074 is set, replace the B60 Passenger Presence Sensor
- If the DTC B0074 is not set
- All OK.
- If the seat is empty and does not have an aftermarket seat heater
- Verify that DTC B0074 stays current while performing the following:
- Moving the passenger seat forward and backward through its full range of motion.
- Moving the harness near the K85 Passenger Presence Detection Module.
- If applicable, moving the harness near the Passenger Presence Sensor.
- Moving the harness near any seat harness.
- If DTC B0074 becomes history
Insure each connector and CPA is correctly seated and inspect each connector terminal for damage or corrosion and repair as necessary.
- If DTC B0074 stays current
- Replace the B60 Passenger Presence Sensor.
