Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (1.8L LUW and LWE)

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  3. Disconnect the air conditioning compressor electrical connector.
  4. Loosen the air conditioning compressor and condenser hose from the air conditioning compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Replacement (1.8L LUW and LWE) .
1 Air Conditioning Compressor Bolt (Qty: 3)
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Tighten 
22 N.m (17 lb ft)
2 Air Conditioning Compressor

Procedure

  • Use a low viscosity, poly-alkylene glycol (PAG) oil. Use of the incorrect oil can result in compressor failure.
  • When replacing the A/C compressor, balance the compressor oil. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Balancing 
  • Use GE-39400  detector leak test A/C compressor fittings.

GE-39400  Electronic Halogen Leak Detector
