Input Shaft Bearing Replacement

  1. Clean the input shaft.
  2. Dry the input shaft
  3. Clamp the input shaft (2) into a vise, using aluminum protective jaws (3).

  4. Remove and DISCARD the input shaft bearing retainer bolt (1) from the input shaft.
  5. Determine the correct function side of DT-60000-60  installer (2)

    NOTE:
    • DT-60000-60  installer is used to support the input shaft and to push on the bearings of the two main shafts.
    • Select the correct function side of DT-60000-60  installer to support the input shaft, according to the input shaft diameter at position "X".
    • Input shaft (1) Diameter "X" = 24.5 mm (0.96 in): Function side "A"
    • Input shaft (1) Diameter "X" = 26.0 mm (1.02 in): Function side "B"
  6. Insert the input shaft (1) into the DT-60000-60  installer (2). Make sure to use the correct function side of the DT-60000-60  installer, according to the input shaft diameter.

  7. Cut in the bearing cage (2) of the input shaft outer bearing in several places on the top, using side cutting pliers (1).

  8. Cut in the bearing cage (2) of the input shaft outer bearing in several places on the bottom, using side cutting pliers (1). If necessary, use a screwdriver (3) to lift the cage.

  9. Remove and DISCARD the cage.
  10. Remove and DISCARD all rollers.
  11. Install the DT-60000-10  remover (1) to the outer bearing inner ring (2) of the input shaft, make sure of proper seat (arrow).

  12. Tighten 2 nuts of the DT-60000-10  remover.
  13. Support the outer bearing inner ring (3) using the DT-60000-10  remover (1).

  14. Remove the outer bearing inner ring from the input shaft. Press out the input shaft using the EN-235-5-1  arbor (2).
    NOTE: Hold the input shaft before pressing is finished, the input shaft must not fall to the floor.
  15. Remove the DT-60000-10  remover (1) from the outer bearing inner ring (2).

  16. DISCARD the outer bearing inner ring.
  17. Cut in the bearing cage (2) of the input shaft inner bearing in several places on the top, using side cutting pliers (1).

  19. Remove and DISCARD the cage (2).
  20. Remove and DISCARD all rollers.
  21. Install the DT-60000-10  remover (1) to the inner bearing inner ring (2) of the input shaft, make sure of proper seat.

  22. Tighten the 2 nuts of the DT-60000-10  remover.
  23. Support the inner bearing inner ring using the DT-60000-10  remover (1).

  24. Remove the inner bearing inner ring from the input shaft (2). Press out the input shaft.
    NOTE: Hold the input shaft before pressing is finished, the input shaft must not fall to the floor.
  25. Remove the DT-60000-10  remover (1) from the inner bearing inner ring (2).

  26. DISCARD the inner bearing inner ring.
  27. Re-cut the input shaft bearing retainer bolt whole thread in the input shaft.

  28. Clean all components of the input shaft.
  29. Dry all components of the input shaft.
  30. Check all components of the input shaft for damage.
    NOTE: Damaged input shaft parts must not be installed.
  31. Support the input shaft using the DT-60000-60  installer (2). Make sure to use the correct function side of the DT-60000-60  installer, according to the input shaft diameter.

  32. Press on NEW outer bearing (3) to the input shaft, using the DT-6339  installer (1).
  33. Mark the NEW bearing cup of the input shaft bearing with I, in order to arrange the bearing cup later to the input shaft.

    NOTE: Use a permanent marker.
  34. Clamp input shaft (2) into a vise, using aluminum protective jaws (3).

    NOTE: Input shaft thread must be free from oil and grease.
  35. Apply thread lock agent to the NEW input shaft bearing retainer bolt (1).
  36. Install NEW input shaft bearing retainer bolt to the input shaft and tighten to 55 N.m (41 lb ft).
  37. Press on NEW inner bearing (2) to the input shaft, using the DT-60000-60  installer (1). Make sure to use the correct function side of the DT-60000-60  installer according to the input shaft diameter.

  38. Check the input shaft for damage.
    NOTE: A damaged input shaft must not be installed.
