Input Shaft Bearing Replacement
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Clean the input shaft.
- Dry the input shaft
- Clamp the input shaft (2) into a vise, using aluminum protective jaws (3).
- Remove and DISCARD the input shaft bearing retainer bolt (1) from the input shaft.
- Determine the correct function side of DT-60000-60
installer (2)
NOTE:
- DT-60000-60 installer is used to support the input shaft and to push on the bearings of the two main shafts.
- Select the correct function side of DT-60000-60 installer to support the input shaft, according to the input shaft diameter at position "X".
- Input shaft (1) Diameter "X" = 24.5 mm (0.96 in): Function side "A"
- Input shaft (1) Diameter "X" = 26.0 mm (1.02 in): Function side "B"
- Insert the input shaft (1) into the DT-60000-60 installer (2). Make sure to use the correct function side of the DT-60000-60 installer, according to the input shaft diameter.
- Cut in the bearing cage (2) of the input shaft outer bearing in several places on the top, using side cutting pliers (1).
- Cut in the bearing cage (2) of the input shaft outer bearing in several places on the bottom, using side cutting pliers (1). If necessary, use a screwdriver (3) to lift the cage.
- Remove and DISCARD the cage.
- Remove and DISCARD all rollers.
- Install the DT-60000-10 remover (1) to the outer bearing inner ring (2) of the input shaft, make sure of proper seat (arrow).
- Tighten 2 nuts of the DT-60000-10 remover.
- Support the outer bearing inner ring (3) using the DT-60000-10 remover (1).
- Remove the outer bearing inner ring from the input shaft. Press out the input shaft using the EN-235-5-1
arbor (2).NOTE: Hold the input shaft before pressing is finished, the input shaft must not fall to the floor.
- Remove the DT-60000-10 remover (1) from the outer bearing inner ring (2).
- DISCARD the outer bearing inner ring.
- Cut in the bearing cage (2) of the input shaft inner bearing in several places on the top, using side cutting pliers (1).
- Cut in the bearing cage (2) of the input shaft inner bearing in several places on the bottom, using side cutting pliers (1).
- Remove and DISCARD the cage (2).
- Remove and DISCARD all rollers.
- Install the DT-60000-10 remover (1) to the inner bearing inner ring (2) of the input shaft, make sure of proper seat.
- Tighten the 2 nuts of the DT-60000-10 remover.
- Support the inner bearing inner ring using the DT-60000-10 remover (1).
- Remove the inner bearing inner ring from the input shaft (2). Press out the input shaft.NOTE: Hold the input shaft before pressing is finished, the input shaft must not fall to the floor.
- Remove the DT-60000-10 remover (1) from the inner bearing inner ring (2).
- DISCARD the inner bearing inner ring.
- Re-cut the input shaft bearing retainer bolt whole thread in the input shaft.
- Clean all components of the input shaft.
- Dry all components of the input shaft.
- Check all components of the input shaft for damage.NOTE: Damaged input shaft parts must not be installed.
- Support the input shaft using the DT-60000-60 installer (2). Make sure to use the correct function side of the DT-60000-60 installer, according to the input shaft diameter.
- Press on NEW outer bearing (3) to the input shaft, using the DT-6339 installer (1).
- Mark the NEW bearing cup of the input shaft bearing with I, in order to arrange the bearing cup later to the input shaft.
NOTE: Use a permanent marker.
- Clamp input shaft (2) into a vise, using aluminum protective jaws (3).
NOTE: Input shaft thread must be free from oil and grease.
- Apply thread lock agent to the NEW input shaft bearing retainer bolt (1).
- Install NEW input shaft bearing retainer bolt to the input shaft and tighten to 55 N.m (41 lb ft).CAUTION: Fastener Caution
- Press on NEW inner bearing (2) to the input shaft, using the DT-60000-60 installer (1). Make sure to use the correct function side of the DT-60000-60 installer according to the input shaft diameter.
- Check the input shaft for damage.NOTE: A damaged input shaft must not be installed.
