Diagnostic Aids
The Reductant Fluid Quality Test will not be allowed or will be terminated if any of the following conditions occur:
- Brake pedal is applied
- Reductant level is below 33%
- Engine coolant temperature is out of range
- Battery voltage is out of range
- Transmission is shifted out of park
- Engine speed is too high
- Exhaust gas temperature is out of range
- Activation timer has expired
- Vehicle speed is too high
- Fuel temperature is too high
- Accelerator pedal is applied
- Scan tool Reductant Quality Test is commanded Off
- ECT or EGT temperatures exceed calibrated thresholds
If the vehicle has been in a cold climate condition of -7°C (20°F) or less for several days, it may be in Frozen Tank status, which prevents the Reductant Fluid Quality Test from evaluating a result when triggered. Frozen tank status is entered when the vehicle key-on event reads a reductant tank temperature below -7°C (20°F). The reductant tank temperature may be warmer after extended engine run time however, only the conditions at key-on are considered. To exit frozen tank status, the vehicle must be soaked in a warm garage for greater than 6 hours with the trunk open and the trunk mat and reductant tank insulator removed and with the key off continuously. After the 6 hour key off event, verify the reductant tank temperature is greater than -7°C (20°F) immediately after key on. If the reductant is still -7°C (20°F) or less, it will be necessary to repeat the 6 hour soak procedure allowing the reductant tank to warm up above the -7°C (20°F) threshold
