WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:
Refer to the following for the fuel pump relay harness terminal identification.
Terminal 30 - passenger side rear
Terminal 85 - driver side rear
Terminal 87 - driver side front
Terminal 86 - passenger side front
- Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, it may take up to 2 minutes for all vehicle systems to power down.
- Verify the fuel pump is not running.
- If the fuel pump is running
Repair the short to voltage in the fuel pump control circuit.
- If the fuel pump is not running
- If the fuel pump is running
- Disconnect the harness connector at the G12 Fuel Pump.
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If 10 Ω or greater.
Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 10 Ω.
- If 10 Ω or greater.
- Ignition ON.
- Command the Fuel Pump Relay ON with the scan tool. Verify a test lamp illuminates between the fuel pump control circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate.
- Remove the KR23A Fuel Pump Relay
- Command the Fuel Pump Relay ON with the scan tool. Verify a test lamp illuminates between the primary control circuit terminal 85 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test for an open/high resistance in the circuit. If the circuit test normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
- If the test lamp illuminates.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between the fuel pump relay battery positive voltage circuit terminal 87 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit, replace the fuse if necessary.
- If the test lamp illuminates.
- Connect a 15 A fused jumper wire between the fuel pump relay battery positive voltage circuit terminal 87 and the fuel pump control circuit terminal 30.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between the fuel pump harness connector control circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If the test lamp illuminates.
- Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, it may take up to 2 minutes for all vehicle systems to power down.
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 86 and ground.
- If 10 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 10 Ω, replace the KR23A Fuel Pump Relay
- If the test lamp illuminates.
- Replace the G12 Fuel Pump.
