Fuel Pressure Regulator 1

- Reconnect the harness connector at Q18A Fuel Pressure Regulator 1
- Clear all DTC's using the scan tool.
- Engine idling.
- Fuel temperature must be greater than 15°C (59°F)
- Using the scan tool, command the Fuel Rail Pressure to 60 MPa (8702 psi) for 15 seconds. This allows the Q18B Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 adaptation process to complete.
- Engine idle stable for 1 minute.
- Observe the live plot for sharp changes or shark tooth pattern in the Fuel Rail Pressure while performing the following actions:
- Engine at idle and 1800 RPM
- While at idle, shift the automatic transmission, if equipped, from Park to Drive and back to Park
- Turn the air conditioning ON and OFF
- Verify a violent fluctuation in the Fuel Rail Pressure is not displayed, as seen in the surging graph below.
- If a violent fluctuation in the Fuel Rail Pressure is displayed
Replace the Q18A Fuel Pressure Regulator 1. Refer to Fuel Injection Pump Replacement .
- If a violent fluctuation in the Fuel Rail Pressure is not displayed
- If a violent fluctuation in the Fuel Rail Pressure is displayed
- All OK.
