Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Bypass Solenoid Valve Dynamic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Ignition Off, disconnect the Q47 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Bypass Solenoid Valve.
  2. Connect the GE 23738-A  to the vacuum inlet port on the valve.
  3. Apply 70 kPa (20.7 in. Hg.) vacuum to the valve.
  4. Verify the valve holds vacuum.
    • If the valve does not hold vacuum 

      Replace the Q47 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Bypass Solenoid Valve.

    • If the valve holds vacuum 
  5. Install a 10 A fused jumper wire between the ignition circuit terminal 1 and 12 V. Install a jumper wire between the control terminal 2 and ground.
    NOTE: Verify the valve is still holding vacuum before proceeding with the next step
  6. Verify the solenoid clicks and the vacuum goes to 0 kPa (0 in. Hg.)
    • If the solenoid does not click or the vacuum does not go to 0 kPa (0 in. Hg.) 

      Replace the Q47 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Bypass Solenoid Valve.

    • If the solenoid clicks and the vacuum goes to 0 kPa (0 in. Hg.) 
  7. All OK
