Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Verify the following conditions do not exist with the reductant system components:
    • Restricted or plugged Q62 Reductant Purge Solenoid Valve lines
    • Stuck closed, restricted or plugged Q62 Reductant Purge Solenoid Valve
    • If a condition is found 

      Repair as necessary

    • If no condition is found 
  2. Ignition Off, disconnect the harness connector at the Q62 Reductant Purge Solenoid Valve.
  3. Ignition On
  4. Test for 2.5-4.5 V between the reductant reverting valve high control circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If less than 2.5 V 
    1. Test for infinite resistance between the high control circuit and ground.
      • If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit.
      • If infinite resistance
    2. Test for less than 2 Ω in the high control circuit end to end.
      • If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 Ω, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
    • If greater than 4.5 V 
    1. Ignition Off, disconnect the harness connector at the K20 Engine Control Module.
    2. Ignition On.
    3. Test for less than 1 V between the high control circuit and ground.
    • If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
    • If less than 1 V, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
    • If between 2.5-4.5 V 
  5. Connect a DMM between the reductant reverting valve high control circuit terminal 1 and ground.
  6. Command the Reductant Purge Valve On and Off with a scan tool. The DMM should transition from 2.5-4.5 V when commanded Off to greater than 10 V, when commanded On.
    • If the circuit voltage does not correspond to the specified values 

      Replace the K20 Engine Control Module.

    • If the circuit voltage corresponds to the specified values 
  7. Test for 2.5-4.5 V between the reductant reverting valve low control circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    • If less than 2.5 V 
    1. Test for infinite resistance between the low control circuit and ground.
      • If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit.
      • If infinite resistance
    2. Test for less than 2 Ω in the low control circuit end to end.
      • If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 Ω, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
    • If greater than 4.5 V 
    1. Ignition Off, disconnect the harness connector at the K20 Engine Control Module.
    2. Ignition On.
    3. Test for less than 1 V between the low control circuit and ground.
    • If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
    • If less than 1 V, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
    • If between 2.5-4.5 V 
  8. Connect a DMM between the reductant reverting valve low control circuit terminal 2 and ground.
  9. Command the Reductant Purge Valve On and Off with a scan tool. The DMM should transition from 2.5-4.5 V when commanded Off to less than 2 V, when commanded On.
    • If the circuit voltage does not correspond to the specified values 

      Replace the K20 Engine Control Module.

    • If the circuit voltage corresponds to the specified values 
  10. Replace the Q62 Reductant Purge Solenoid Valve..
