Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Ignition Off, disconnect the harness connector at the Q61 Emission Reduction Fluid Injector.
  2. Ignition On, test for B+ between reductant dosing valve high control circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    • If not within the specified range
    1. Ignition Off, disconnect the harness connector at the K20 Engine Control Module.
    2. Test for infinite resistance in the supply voltage circuit to ground.
      • If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit.
      • If infinite resistance
    1. Test for less than 2 Ω in the supply voltage circuit end to end.
      • If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 Ω, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
    • If within the specified range
  3. Ignition On, test for 2.5-4.5 V between the reductant dosing valve low control circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    • If less than 2.5 V
    1. Test for infinite resistance between the low control circuit and ground.
      • If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit.
      • If infinite resistance
    2. Test for less than 2 Ω in the low control circuit end to end.
      • If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 Ω, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
    • If greater than 4.5 V
    1. Ignition Off, disconnect the harness connector at the K20 Engine Control Module.
    2. Ignition On.
    3. Test for less than 1 V between the low control circuit and ground.
    • If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
    • If less than 1 V, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
    • If between 2.5-4.5 V
  4. Connect a J 34730-2C  Injector Test Lamp between the reductant dosing valve high control circuit terminal 2 and reductant dosing valve low control circuit terminal 1.
  5. Command the Reductant Injector to 80 percent with a scan tool. The test lamp should illuminate or flash when commanded to 80 percent.
NOTE: It may take several seconds for the test lamp to illuminate.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate or flash

Replace the K20 Engine Control Module.

    • If the test lamp does illuminate or flash
  6. Test or replace the Q61 Emission Reduction Fluid Injector.
