Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF. It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down.
    NOTE:

Refer to the following for the Fuel Pump Relay harness terminal identification.

Terminal 30 - passenger side rear

Terminal 85 - driver side rear

Terminal 87 - driver side front

Terminal 86 - passenger side front

  2. Remove the KR23A Fuel Pump Relay from the electrical center.
  3. Test for less than 10 Ω between the fuel pump control 2 circuit terminal 86 and ground.
    • If greater than 10 Ω

Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.

    • If less than 10 Ω
  4. Connect a test lamp between the fuel pump control 1 circuit terminal 85 and ground.
  5. Verify the test lamp turns ON and OFF when commanding the fuel pump relay ON and OFF with a scan tool.
    • If the test lamp is always OFF
    1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K20 Engine Control Module, ignition ON.
    2. Test for less than 1 V between the fuel pump control 1 circuit and ground.
      • If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage in the circuit.
      • If less than 1 V.
    3. Ignition OFF.
    4. Test for less than 2 Ω in the fuel pump control 1 circuit end to end.
      • If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 Ω
    5. Test for infinite resistance, between the fuel pump control 1 circuit and ground.
      • If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit.
      • If infinite resistance, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
    • If the test lamp turns ON and OFF
  6. Replace the KR23A Fuel Pump Relay.
