Circuit/System Description

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

The intake air flow valve is a normally open valve and is operated during diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration and in the event that the engine control module (ECM) detects the engine speed increases beyond desired control limits. Upon detection, the engine will be shutdown by closing the intake air flow valve and disabling the fuel injectors. The intake air flow valve contains a digital position sensor. The position sensor is mounted within the valve assembly and is not serviceable. The position sensor provides a signal voltage that changes relative to valve angle. The ECM supplies the valve with a 5 V reference circuit and a low reference circuit. The position sensor information is transmitted between the valve and the ECM on the signal circuit.

The intake air flow valve uses a motor to move the valve blade to an open or closed position.
