Circuit Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 Chevrolet Trax and 2015 Buick Encore. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The engine control module (ECM) monitors the temperature of the engine radiator coolant. The ECM uses a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal to control the electrical thermostat heater circuit. The ECM compares the radiator coolant temperature to the engine coolant temperature in order to determine if there is sufficient coolant flow through the thermostat.
