Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Reposition the engine control module. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement .
- Unlock the retaining tab (2) on the battery fuse box cover.
- Open the battery fuse box flap (1).
- Unlock the retaining tab (3).
- Open the battery fuse box cover (1).
NOTE: Pull the battery fuse box housing. DO NOT pull the flap.
- Remove the battery positive cable to starter nut (2).
- Remove the battery positive cable to starter (3) from the battery.
- Remove the battery ground cable nut (1).
- Remove the ground cable (2).
- Unclip the 3 generator and starter cable retainers (1) from the body and from the transmission.
- Unclip the 2 generator and starter cable retainers (1) from the transmission.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- If equipped, remove the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement .
- Remove the starter ground cable nut (4) and remove the negative cable (1).
- Remove the starter and generator positive cable nut (3) and remove the starter and generator positive cable (2).
- Remove the generator positive cable nut (1) and remove the generator positive cable (2) from the generator.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the generator and starter cable from the vehicle.
