Installation Procedure

  1. Install the 2 exhaust pipe front hanger insulators (4) to the three way catalytic converter (3).

  2. Install the exhaust pipe front hanger bracket (5) to the 2 exhaust pipe front hanger insulators (4).
  3. Install the 2 exhaust pipe front hanger insulators nuts (6) and tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  4. Install the three way catalytic converter (3) to the underbody and support them.
    NOTE: A second technician is required.
  5. Install the 2 exhaust pipe front hanger bracket bolts (7) and tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
  6. Install 2 NEW front suspension support bolts (8) and tighten a first pass to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).
    CAUTION: Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution .
  7. Tighten the 2 front suspension support bolts (8) a final pass to 30 - 45 degrees, using the EN-45059  meter.
  8. Install a NEW gasket (4).

  9. Install the three way catalytic converter (1) to the oxidation catalytic converter (3).
  10. Install 3 NEW oxidation catalytic converter to the three way catalytic converter nuts (2) and tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
  11. Install the exhaust pipe (3) and support them.

    NOTE: A second technician is required.
  12. Install the exhaust pipe hanger insulator (1).
  13. Install a NEW gasket (5).
  14. Install exhaust pipe (3) to the three way catalytic converter (6).
  15. Install and tighten 2 NEW nuts (4) to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
  16. Install the exhaust pipe bracket to the exhaust pipe.
  17. Install the exhaust pipe bracket bolt (2) to the exhaust pipe bracket and tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
  18. Unsupport the exhaust pipe.
  19. Install the rear axle. Refer to Rear Axle Replacement (Compound Crank) and Rear Axle Replacement (Watt Linkage) .
  20. Install the nitrogen oxide sensor - position 2. Refer to Nitrogen Oxides Sensor Replacement - Position 2 .
  21. Install the exhaust particulate sensor. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Sensor Replacement .
  22. Install the underbody rear air deflector. Refer to Underbody Rear Air Deflector Replacement .
  23. Install the emission reduction fluid injector. Refer to Emission Reduction Fluid Injector Replacement .
  24. Install the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .
