Removal Procedure

CAUTION:
Do not bend the exhaust flex pipe more than 10 degrees in any direction. Bending of more than 10 degrees or twisting in a range of ±0.5 degrees will damage the exhaust flex decoupler.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the underbody rear air deflector. Refer to Underbody Rear Air Deflector Replacement .
- Remove the nitrogen oxide sensor - position 2. Refer to Nitrogen Oxides Sensor Replacement - Position 2 .
- Remove the exhaust particulate sensor. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Sensor Replacement .
- Remove the rear axle. Refer to Rear Axle Replacement (Compound Crank) and Rear Axle Replacement (Watt Linkage) .
- Remove the exhaust pipe hanger insulator (1) from the exhaust pipe (3).
- Remove the exhaust pipe bracket bolt (2) from the exhaust pipe bracket.
- Remove the exhaust pipe bracket.
- Remove the nuts (4).NOTE: Support the exhaust rear muffler with a jack.NOTE: A second technician is required.
- Remove and DISCARD the exhaust pipe (3) from the three way catalytic converter (6).
- Remove and DISCARD the gasket (5).
