Installation Procedure

  1. Install a NEW catalytic converter gasket prior installation of the catalytic converter.
  2. Remove the gasket protection on the inlet flange of catalytic converter.

    NOTE: It is important to install the catalytic converter in correct sequence to avoid catalytic converter DPF leaks.
  3. Pre-Install the catalytic converter clamp (1).
  4. Position the nut of the catalytic converter clamp (1) horizontal as shown.
  5. Install the catalytic converter (2) inlet flange to turbocharger outlet flange.
  6. Install the 2 catalytic converter brace bracket nuts (3).
  7. Move the catalytic converter clamp (1) and catalytic converter (2) into the final flange position.
  8. Make the sure that the catalytic converter gasket is in the correct position.
  9. Tighten to catalytic converter clamp to 6 N.m 53 lb in.
    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  10. Push the catalytic converter bottom bracket against the engine oil pan and tighten the catalytic converter clamp (1) to 25 N.m 18 lb ft.
  11. Tighten the 2 catalytic converter brace bracket nuts to 22 N.m 16 lb ft.
  12. Install the catalytic converter brace bracket bolts (5) and tighten to 58 N.m 43 lb ft.
  13. Install the 3 catalytic converter nuts (4) to three way catalytic converter and tighten 25 N.m 18 lb ft.
  14. Install the exhaust pressure pipe hoses to the catalytic converter pipes after loosen the catalytic converter from the turbocharger. Refer to Exhaust Pressure Sensor Pipe Replacement .
  15. Install the pressure sensor pipe to EGR cooler and intake manifold. Refer to Exhaust Pressure Sensor Pipe Replacement .
  16. Install the turbocharger wastegate actuator vacuum control solenoid valve heat shield. Refer to Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Vacuum Control Solenoid Valve Splash Shield Replacement .
  17. Install the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  18. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  19. After replacement activate the diesel particular filter (DPF) reset with the diagnostic tool:
    1. Turn on ignition.
    2. Connect scan tool.
    3. Select Module Diagnosis.
    4. Select Engine Control Module.
    5. Select Configuration/Reset function.
    6. Select DPF Reset.
    7. Push Enter button to run function.
    8. Confirm Executed successfully.
    9. Turn ignition off and confirm.
