Installation Procedure
- Install a NEW catalytic converter gasket prior installation of the catalytic converter.
- Remove the gasket protection on the inlet flange of catalytic converter.
NOTE: It is important to install the catalytic converter in correct sequence to avoid catalytic converter DPF leaks.
- Pre-Install the catalytic converter clamp (1).
- Position the nut of the catalytic converter clamp (1) horizontal as shown.
- Install the catalytic converter (2) inlet flange to turbocharger outlet flange.
- Install the 2 catalytic converter brace bracket nuts (3).
- Move the catalytic converter clamp (1) and catalytic converter (2) into the final flange position.
- Make the sure that the catalytic converter gasket is in the correct position.
- Tighten to catalytic converter clamp to 6 N.m 53 lb in.CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
- Push the catalytic converter bottom bracket against the engine oil pan and tighten the catalytic converter clamp (1) to 25 N.m 18 lb ft.
- Tighten the 2 catalytic converter brace bracket nuts to 22 N.m 16 lb ft.
- Install the catalytic converter brace bracket bolts (5) and tighten to 58 N.m 43 lb ft.
- Install the 3 catalytic converter nuts (4) to three way catalytic converter and tighten 25 N.m 18 lb ft.
- Install the exhaust pressure pipe hoses to the catalytic converter pipes after loosen the catalytic converter from the turbocharger. Refer to Exhaust Pressure Sensor Pipe Replacement .
- Install the pressure sensor pipe to EGR cooler and intake manifold. Refer to Exhaust Pressure Sensor Pipe Replacement .
- Install the turbocharger wastegate actuator vacuum control solenoid valve heat shield. Refer to Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Vacuum Control Solenoid Valve Splash Shield Replacement .
- Install the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- After replacement activate the diesel particular filter (DPF) reset with the diagnostic tool:
- Turn on ignition.
- Connect scan tool.
- Select Module Diagnosis.
- Select Engine Control Module.
- Select Configuration/Reset function.
- Select DPF Reset.
- Push Enter button to run function.
- Confirm Executed successfully.
- Turn ignition off and confirm.
