Removal Procedure

CAUTION: Use care when performing this procedure. Use of excessive force may damage the coolant thermostat.
  1. Open the hood.
  2. Unclip the engine control module bracket and hang the engine control module aside.
  3. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716 Fill)  and Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) .
  4. Loosen the engine coolant air bleed hose clamp (3).

    NOTE: Place a drain tray underneath.
  5. Remove the engine coolant air bleed hose (2) from the engine coolant thermostat housing (1) and hang aside.
  6. Loosen the radiator inlet hose clamp (4).
  7. Remove the radiator inlet hose (5) and hang aside.
  8. Remove the 3 engine coolant thermostat housing bolts (2).

  9. Remove the engine coolant thermostat housing (1).
  10. Remove and discard the engine coolant thermostat housing sealing (3).
