Installation Procedure

  1. Install a NEW inner orange sealing ring (1) to the rear notch in the front wheel drive intermediate shaft.

  2. Install a NEW outer black sealing ring (2) to the front notch in the front wheel drive intermediate shaft.
  3. Grease the intermediate shaft splines. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers .
  4. Install the DT-6332  seal protector into the differential output shaft seal.

    CAUTION: DT-6332/DT-51504 or equivalent must be installed into the front wheel drive shaft oil seal prior to removing and installing the front wheel drive shaft. Failure to use the DT-6332/DT-51504 may cause the spline of the front wheel drive shaft to cut the front wheel drive shaft oil seal. Damage to the front wheel drive shaft oil seal will result in lubricant leaks.
  5. Intermediate Shaft (1) »Install

  6. DT-6332  Seal Protector (1) »Remove

  7. Install the wheel drive shaft into the differential until the retaining ring is fully seated.
  8. Confirm that the front wheel drive shaft retaining ring is properly seated by grasping the inner housing and pulling the inner housing outward.
  9. Bolt (3) @ Intermediate Shaft Bearing Flange (2) »Install and tighten [3x] 22 N.m 16 (lb ft)

  10. Ensure that between the dust shield (1) and the intermediate shaft bracket (2) is enough space (arrows) to avoid a squeak noise.

  11. Carefully install the wheel drive shaft into the intermediate shaft - Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (without Intermediate Shaft)  and Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (with Intermediate Shaft) 
  12. Fill the transmission to the proper level. Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill
